Len's Light (2011)

My father was a letterpress printer and lifelong amateur gardener. This book
fuses together photographs taken at our family home printed onto sheets from his
gardening books which are now in my possession. Pages of different size, weight and
colour were exposed outdoors to sunlight over a period of three months.
On some sheets a plant sample was sandwiched between glass and paper
which in turn created a stencil-like imprint as the fugitive paper changed colour.
On the smaller pages torn from amateur gardening books, I’ve used a
ground to allow the printing of a colour inkjet image.

Inkjet on vintage book pages, plant matter, ‘photogenic drawings’ on pulp paper
and fugitive sugar paper. 40×30 cm.

Unbound unique book
